Don Helmbrecht is a Spatial Analyst/GIS Specialist working for the Fire Modeling Institute.  He has a B.S. in resource conservation and an M.S. in Forestry from the University of Montana. 

Don brings over ten years of combined experience in the fields of wildland fire and GIS where he has worked as a member of an Interagency Hotshot Crew and as a GIS program manager.   He also brings a broad range of experience to FMI in the areas of geographic database design, GIS programming, and application development.  His current focus at FMI is in fire behavior and effects modeling, fuels treatment planning and analysis, and GIS application development.
