Jan Bixler has been a part-time Program Assistant for the Fire Effects RWU 4403 at the Fire Lab since November 1985.  She currently works primarily in Budget and Accounts Maintenance for the newly formed Fire, Fuel and Smoke Program, and for the LANDFIRE Program.  In October 2007, she received an award as part of the Outstanding Administrative Team in RMRS for 2007.

She is married to Scott who works for the Forest Service at the Region 1 Headquarters in Missoula.  They have three children:  Andy and twin daughters Kristy and Lindsay. She has been a Girl Scout leader for many years and helps with Boy Scout activities.  She has helped coach both basketball and baseball/softball teams for the past numerous years.  She is an active PTA/Booster Club member at her children’s schools.  Other interests include cross-stitching, needlework, reading, camping, and traveling.
