The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recently honored FFS Research Physical Scientist Jack Cohen, Missoula, with the Wildfire Safety Exemplary Service Award.  Michele Steinberg, Executive Director of NFPA’s Wildfire Operations Division presented the award to Jack at the NFPA “Backyards and Beyond” conference in Myrtle Beach, Florida.  This award honors those who provide exemplary service through achievements in mitigation, prevention, collaborative planning, community organization and outreach, and volunteerism that helps to protect people and property in communities at risk from wildfire domestically and/or internationally.  Jack has been a principal partner with NFPA since the very early 2000’s, including his co-founding, with NFPA, of the Firewise Communities program.  The NFPA recognized Jack for the enormous impact he has made in fire science.
