FFS Research Ecologists Russ Parsons and Matt Jolly, Missoula, presented their research at the 6th International Wildland Fire Conference in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do, Republic of Korea. The conference occurred under the auspices of the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Scientists, fire management leaders and practitioners from 73 countries discussed critical fire issues affecting communities, resources and ecosystems, and cooperative work on the development of a global wildland fire management strategy. The Korean Forest Research Institute (KFRI) invited Russ to chair the plenary session on the “Application of Technology to Wildland Fire Management.”
