Personal Summary: 

Larry has been a meteorologist for the Rocky Mountain Research Station, Fire Sciences Laboratory, Missoula, Montana since June 1992. Larry studied at the University of Utah where he spent considerable time researching low density snowpack phenomena.

Previously, Larry was with Systems for Environmental Management (SEM) where he was principal investigator of more than 15 research agreements with the USDA Forest Service. Since being in Missoula he has worked in the development and application of climatology to fire management problems and is the resident mechanic of the National Fire Danger Rating System. Current efforts include project manager for the FireFamily Plus program development and integrating gridded weather products from the National Weather Service into the next generation of fire danger/fire behavior products. Larry has been a long standing member representing Fire Danger Rating to various incarnations of NWCG working teams.

Larry skis on occasion but has taken more of a liking to less weather dependent recreation such as ice hockey and motorcycle touring.
