Wildfire Smoke in the United States, released in August 2022 by Springer Publications, is an open access book which provides an assessment of current science surrounding wildfire smoke in the United States. The book summarizes current understanding about smoke science and provides direction for future research needs to improve understanding of smoke and fire management. Research Physical Scientist Shawn Urbanski is lead author of the chapter on Smoke Emissions, while Emeritus Scientist Bob Keane and Ecologist Duncan Lutes with the Fire Modeling Institute contributed to the chapter on Fuels and Consumption.
